It was nice to come back to this site that we installed last year. This week we complete the installation of 2 new gates with intercom and access control linked back to the main system at a large residential block. 2 overview cameras fitted using veracity extenders to combat the 300m cable run.

What is a CCTV test plan and why is it important?

📹 Your installer should detail within their quote how they intend to test your newly installed system. This test plan documents the strategy that will be used to verify your new system meets your objectives, which should also be detailed in your quotation. Such a plan will be unique to your system designer and user requirements which would have been ascertained with you at survey stage. A record of this testing will be made available to you and should form part of your handover process.

So, why is it important? 🤷‍♂️
Simply put, it provides transparency and quality assurance for buyers. It’s your installer telling you this is how I will ensure your system performs as designed and meets your requirements. It gives buyers confidence that their newly installed system will be put through its paces.

It arms a buyer with the tools and confidence to question the end product if necessary. Test plans will vary in complexity depending on the system they are written for but this is an example of the most basic you should expect to see.
